At King Vision, we begin with what matters to you. Dr. Jacqueline L. Pierre, Optometrist, evaluates your remaining vision and explores whether specialized glasses, magnification, technology, and training could help you accomplish your goals.

Low vision is reduced vision that continues to interfere with everyday activities despite regular glasses, contact lenses, or medical treatment.
Low vision rehabilitation focuses on helping you make the most of your remaining vision. Your eye doctor may continue treating the underlying condition while low vision care addresses the activities you want to do more easily.
Your goals guide the evaluation. You may want help with:
● Reading books, mail, menus, or your Bible.
● Seeing faces or watching television.
● Using your phone or computer.
● Enjoying crafts, games, or hobbies.
● Reading labels and other everyday information.
Tell us what has become difficult—and what you would like to try again.
Dr. Jacqueline L. Pierre, Optometrist, has completed specialized low vision training through the Shuldiner Low Vision Training Institute (SLVTI).
This training focuses on evaluating remaining vision and using specialized optical devices and rehabilitation methods to address individual patient goals. For you, that means an evaluation centered on practical activities and whether particular tools may help you perform them.
Depending on your vision and goals, Dr. Pierre may explore:
● Specialized reading glasses and high-powered lenses.
● Telescope glasses for selected distance or near tasks.
● Handheld, stand, or electronic magnifiers.
● Technology that enlarges text or reads information aloud.
● Lighting, contrast, and techniques for using your remaining vision.
The right choice depends on the task, your vision, and your ability to use the device comfortably. Recommendations are individualized.
1. Have a free telephone consultation
Your first step is a conversation with Dr. Pierre about your vision concerns and the activities that matter to you. This helps determine whether a low vision evaluation may be appropriate.
2. Attend your low vision evaluation
If an evaluation is appropriate, our team will help schedule your visit and request relevant eye examination records.
Bring your current glasses, any vision devices you use, and examples of tasks you find difficult.
Bring a support person to participate in the visit and help carry the plan into everyday life.
3. Explore a personalized plan
Dr. Pierre will assess your remaining vision and evaluate potential tools for your goals. If devices are prescribed, instruction and follow-up will help you learn to use them.
When appropriate, we can also help connect you with additional vision rehabilitation resources.
Low vision care works alongside care from your ophthalmologist, retina specialist, or other eye care professionals. Continue your recommended examinations and treatments.
With your authorization, King Vision can coordinate with your referring doctor and provide a report outlining your evaluation and recommendations.
